To unpair your Apple Watch from your old iPhone, follow these steps:
Method 1: Unpairing Using the iPhone
1. Keep Both Devices Close: Make sure your Apple Watch and old iPhone are near each other.
2. Open the Watch App: On your old iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
3. Select Your Watch: Tap on the watch at the top of the screen, if you have multiple watches.
4. Unpair Apple Watch:
Tap the “i” (information) icon next to the watch that you want to unpair.
Tap “Unpair Apple Watch.”
5. Confirm Unpairing: You might need to enter your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock. Confirm the unpairing by tapping “Unpair” again.
6. Wait for the Process to Complete: The Apple Watch will create a backup of its data on your iPhone and will then be erased. This process might take a few minutes.
Method 2: Unpairing Directly from the Apple Watch
If you no longer have access to your old iPhone, you can unpair the Apple Watch directly:
1. Open Settings: On your Apple Watch, press the Digital Crown and then tap the Settings app.
2. Go to General: Scroll down and tap on “General.”
3. Reset: Scroll down and tap on “Reset.”
4. Erase All Content and Settings: Tap on “Erase All Content and Settings” to reset the watch to factory settings.
5. Confirm Erasure: You may be prompted to enter your passcode if you have one set.
Note:
If your Apple Watch is locked with a passcode, you may need to enter it to proceed with the erasure.
After unpairing, the watch will not be linked to your Apple ID anymore, and you’ll be able to pair it with a new iPhone.
Important:
If you plan to set up your Apple Watch with a new iPhone, ensure that you back up your old iPhone first, as the watch data will transfer to the new device when you pair it again.
After you have followed one of the methods above, your Apple Watch will be unpaired from your old phone. You can now pair it with a new iPhone if desired.
